WP7 – Production of CHT from by-products derived by the mainstream food production system

Objectives
- Mass rearing of H. illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) larvae to recycle waste and by-products of main production system for CHT production according to the circular economy criteria.
- Production of high-quality CHT from insect cuticle as an alternative to the extraction from crustaceous exoskeleton.
- Characterization of the CHT extracted from larvae of the black soldier fly in comparison to the commercial product.
